Description

This is a mid to late 18th century cottage row, built in two depths, with alterations to the Market Street facade dating to around 1830. The building is constructed from sandstone “brick” with stone slate roofs and corniced chimneys. The front facing Market Street has two-light square mullion windows, squared jamb doorways, and an altered pilastered shop front. A covered way leads through to Bridge Street, revealing differences in the construction. The 18th-century south front features three and four-light square mullion windows with single-light transoms, all within squared surrounds. To the left of each doorway is a small round-headed blind window, carved from a single block of stone.
