Description

No. 53 on Market Street in Thornton, built around 1840-1850, is a two-storey house made of sandstone with a shop on the ground floor. It features a hipped stone slate roof and has a first-floor sill band. There are three windows on the first floor, with the center window being larger and all set in squared surrounds. The ground floor has two original shop windows that are framed by pilasters and topped with cornices. This building is included for its group value.
