Description

Nos 112 and 114 Market Street, originally a pair of cottages and now incorporating the former No 116, were dated 1757. No 114 features the initials "R over I S" projecting from the building line of No 112. They are constructed in thin sandstone, appearing like brick. The buildings have flush quoins and stone slate roofs, with saddlestones and kneelers on No 112. No 112 has three windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor, set in squared surrounds, with a modern shop front inserted. No 114 has single and two-light square mullion windows on the first floor, and bowed windows inserted within the original squared surrounds on the ground floor. The buildings hold an important position within the streetscape.
