Description

23-25 Wellwynd in Airdrie is a pair of late 18th century cottages that were restored in 1988. These single-storey buildings have a symmetrical rectangular plan and feature gabled roofs. They are constructed from harled, squared sandstone rubble with dressed margins around the openings, which mainly consist of bipartite windows with stone mullions.

For No. 23, the west (principal) elevation has a central door flanked by windows. The east (rear) elevation features a single square window on the outer left, while the north (side) elevation shows a blind gable end.

No. 25 also has a west (principal) elevation with a central door and flanking windows, plus a single light window to the left. The east (rear) elevation has an advanced bay in the centre with a piended roof. The north (side) elevation is attached to No. 23, and the south (elevation) incorporates the gable into the fabric of the adjacent building.

Both cottages have 6-pane sash and case windows, pantiles, and coped skews. The interior was not seen in 2001.
