Description

No 283 on Thornton Road is a house dating from around 1831, linked to the nearby Prospect Mill. It has two storeys facing the road and three storeys at the rear. The building is constructed of sandstone that resembles brick. It features moulded eaves beneath a hipped stone slate roof and has corniced chimneys. The front has three bays with plain 19th-century sash windows set in plain painted squared surrounds. The entrance includes a pilastered doorway with a frieze and cornice.
