Lynton Cottage, 6 Bridge Street, East Linton

Lynton Cottage is an 18th century cottage that was raised in the mid-19th century to become a 2-storey, 3-bay house set at an angle to Bridge Street. The building features squared and snecked whinstone rubble with harl pointing at the ground level, while the ground floor has sandstone dressings with painted margins and quoins. The first floor is adorned with stugged ashlar dressings that have raised margins and quoins. There is an ashlar band course, eaves course, and cornice, with rubble on the sides and rear of the building. The entrance door is centrally located and includes a margined 2-pane strip fanlight, with windows flanking it and three additional windows on the first floor. The roof is piended and covered with grey slates, and there are ashlar shouldered wallhead stacks with cornices on the blank end walls. Additionally, there is a rubble and ashlar coped retaining wall.
