Description

The building is a police station located at 2 Bridge Street in East Linton, dating from around 1830. It is a two-storey, three-bay house designed in the Jacobean style, with modern additions at the side and rear. The exterior is constructed from squared, coursed, and stugged yellow sandstone, featuring ashlar dressings, a string course, an eaves course, chamfered reveals, and hoodmoulds over the openings, which include stone mullions.

On the south elevation, the entrance is located in the gabled and advanced central bay. It features a doorway with a four-pane fanlight, and there is a bipartite window above it on the first floor, with a blank shield above that. The flanking bays also have bipartite windows on both the ground and first floors, although the hoodmoulds have been removed.

The west elevation consists of two bays, each with single light windows on both the ground and first floors. The sash and case windows exhibit a lying-pane glazing pattern.

The roof is covered with purple slates and has gablet coped skews with consoled skewputts. There are corbelled paired polygonal, corniced end stacks, along with one similar stack on the central south gable that features a decorative frieze.

Additionally, there is a mixed rubble retaining wall with gablet coping.
