Description

The Grange is a house, now serving as a police station, built around 1820 and extended in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick with a colourwashed finish and features a hipped slate roof. The building has a stone plinth, a first-floor band, panelled eaves, and a parapet. It stands two storeys plus attics and has a square plan with five unequal bays. The windows are primarily glazing bar sashes of various sizes, each with multiple keystoned lintels.

The front of the building includes a setback addition to the left and a projecting wing to the right. The entrance features an off-centre reeded doorcase with a palmette keystone and an iron fanlight, flanked by two sashes. To the right of the entrance, there is a single sash window. The rear of the building has an off-centre two-storey canted bay window with three sashes on each floor, flanked by a tall sash on the left and a doorcase similar to the front on the right, along with two additional sashes. Above this, there is one sash on the left and three sashes on the right.

The west end has a late 20th-century adjoining addition and a sash to the right, with three sashes above. Inside, the building features a Classical foliate plaster cornice and a ceiling rose. Previously, this building was used as a homeless persons hostel.
