Description

A lace and shawl factory warehouse was built in 1892 by J Huckerby for F Wilkinson. It is constructed of brick with a slate roof, featuring white and blue brick and ashlar dressings. The building is in a Crenellated Gothic style and has a chamfered plinth, brick bands, and a crenellated parapet, with white brick crosslets applied to the facade.

The symmetrical front elevation is four storeys high and twelve bays wide. The front windows are wooden casements with chamfered and moulded pointed reveals; the rear windows are primarily iron glazing bar casements with segmental heads. The front features a keystoned central entry flanked by single octagonal towers and five casements. Further, two matching corner towers are present. Above the entry are two plaques inscribed "Laboramus," and twelve casements are placed above. A stepped gable sits centrally above the entry, featuring three blank lancets and a cross finial.

The rear elevation includes mid-19th century additions and an off-centre water tower with a dentilated cornice. Above the water tower are three floors, each containing nine casements and a hoist door. The building was later used as a tenement lace factory. The stop-chamfered spine beams have run-out stops.
