Description
23 Bridge Street is a late 18th century house positioned at right angles to the street. It is two stories high and features three bays that are grouped towards the center. The exterior is finished in painted harl with ashlar margins and quoins, and there is a base course. The sides and rear are constructed of rubble, with some areas having harl pointing.
On the southeast elevation, there is a central door with a strip fanlight, flanked by windows. The first floor has three windows. The east elevation has a door at the outer right leading to the gable end wall, with a flanking window to the left. Above the door, there is a window on the first floor and a small window in the attic at the center.
The house adjoins the Crown Hotel at the rear. The sash and case windows have 12-pane glazing. The roof is covered with pantiles and has a grey slate easing course. The skews are straight, and there are ashlar stacks, with the left west stack having been repointed in brick.
