LETWELL BARKER HADES ROAD (south side, off) Dovecote approximately 75 metres to south west of Church Rooms (formerly listed as The Dovecote)

GV II

Dovecote. Probably late C18, renovated c1982. Stone plinth; red brick in Flemish bond; stone slate eaves course to tile roof. Octagonal, 2-storey elevations. Plinth. Doorway in south-east side has boarded door in rock-faced surround with keystone worked on lintel; no other openings on lower storey. 1st-floor string course beneath round-arched recess on each face; recess above door and that to right have pigeon holes. Eaves dentil course. Hipped roof with lead ridges and louvred glover having weathervane.

Interior: central post with revolving ladder; tiers of nesting holes beneath segmental arches. Originally associated with South Farm; renovated by the Council for Preservation of Rural England.
