Description

South Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with a 19th-century addition. It is constructed of coursed, squared limestone and has a pantile roof. The building is three storeys high and features four bays, with a two-storey 19th-century wing that projects at right angles from the left-hand bay, creating an angle where a porch is situated.

The main range has a chamfered plinth and large quoins. The porch includes a panelled door with a four-pane overlight, set in an ashlar surround that has plinth blocks and a flattened ogee head. On the right side of the main range, there are two two-light mullioned windows on each of the three storeys, which have projecting sills and raised square-faced surrounds. Above the porch, there is a blocked single-light window. The roof is hipped, featuring a ridge stack to the left of the centre and an end stack on the right.

The 19th-century wing has large 20th-century casement windows on each floor and also has a hipped roof. There is a later addition to the rear left of the farmhouse, but it is not of special interest.
