Description
North Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of squared, coursed rubble limestone, with stone slate eaves courses beneath a pantile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan with a parallel range filling the rear-right angle and stands two storeys tall with an attic, featuring three bays.
The central entrance consists of a four-panel door topped by a four-pane overlight, all set within a raised ashlar surround that includes plinth blocks. On either side of the door, there are flanking four-pane sash windows with projecting sills and lintels that are tooled as voussoirs. On the first floor, there are three two-light mullioned windows with projecting sills set within square-faced surrounds. An eaves band runs across the pedimented central bay, which features a lunette with radial glazing bars in the tympanum.
The end gables are adorned with shaped kneelers, ashlar gable copings, and brick end stacks. On the left side of the building, there are two two-light square-faced mullioned windows in the rear wing and two single-light windows in the attic of the front range. The right side mirrors the attic windows of the left return, with the gable of the rear range also featuring copings and a stack similar to the front range.
