Description
California Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The front is made of squared limestone, while the sides and rear are constructed from coursed limestone rubble. It features dressed flush quoins and a pantile roof with rebuilt brick stacks. The building has a central stairhall plan, is one room deep, and includes an outshut. It is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. The central entrance has a four-panel door with a divided overlight above it. Throughout the house, there are 16-pane sash windows with stone sills, and all openings have tripartite keyed lintels. The eaves course is cavetto moulded. At the rear, the building has one and a half storeys with a catslide roof, coped gables, and shaped kneelers, along with end stacks. Inside, the ground floor features exposed chamfered beams and six-panel doors with H-hinges.
