Description

Westgate Farmhouse and attached outbuilding and granary are dated to the 18th century, with a 19th-century extension and alteration. The farmhouse is built of dressed limestone, with a red brick extension in a garden wall bond pattern. The outbuilding is cruck-framed and constructed of dressed limestone. Both have pantile roofs and brick stacks.

The farmhouse is two low storeys and has a two-window front. A 20th-century board door is in the centre, flanked by four-pane sashes with painted stone sills. Similar windows are found on the first floor. All openings have painted stone lintels, and the eaves are stepped. To the right of the farmhouse is a one-and-a-half-storey range.

The outbuilding and granary have all openings to the rear. The right gable wall of the outbuilding includes a stable door with a heavy lintel on the ground floor, and a lifting door to the loft above, with a timber lintel. The house has end stacks. Inside the granary are two massive upper cruck trusses with tie beams and crossed apexes.
