Description
Rookwood is a house dating from the early 19th century, located on the east side of Maltongate in Thornton Dale. It is constructed of pink and cream brick in a garden wall bond and features a pantile roof with brick stacks. The building has a central stairhall plan and is one and a half rooms deep. It has a symmetrical two-storey front with three windows. The central entrance consists of a four-panel part-glazed door with a divided overlight, set beneath a gabled lattice porch. The windows are 16-pane sashes with painted stone sills throughout, and all openings are adorned with heavy painted and chiselled lintels. There are brick stacks at each end of the house.
