Description
Lower Farm House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof with stone-coped gable ends. The building has a two-unit central-entry plan with a rear right wing and stands two storeys high, presenting a symmetrical three-window range. The entrance includes a six-panelled door with a heavy pegged frame, set within an ashlar door case that has a bracketed open-pedimented hood. Above the six-over-six pane sashes, there are flat stone arches. A 19th-century plank door leads to the rear outshut, which was heightened in the mid-20th century. Inside, there is a quarter-turn staircase, panelled doors and shutters with moulded architraves, and a segmental keyed architrave to the fireplace on the right.
