Description
South Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge located at Great Rissington Hill. It is constructed from coursed roughly squared and dressed limestone, featuring dressed stone quoins. The building has a stone slate roof with ashlar stacks and a cross-shaped plan, including some minor lean-to extensions at the rear. It is a single-storey structure with tall three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements that have leaded panes and projecting hoods. To the left-hand return of the west wing, there is a 19th-century plank door with fillets set within a dressed stone surround. The eaves are adorned with ogee-curved barge boarding, and the roof has hipped gables. A central composite stack features four diagonally set shafts with flat-chamfered cappings. The interior has not been inspected.
