Description

The Old Bakehouse is a detached house dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with dressed stone quoins, and has a stone slate roof to the front, with artificial stone slates at the rear. Ashlar stacks are present. The house has a lean-to porch with an artificial stone slate roof at the rear, a rectangular plan with extensions to both gable ends and lean-to extensions at the rear. A 20th-century painted brick lean-to at the rear is not of special interest. The symmetrical, two-windowed facade features 16-pane sash windows. A single 20th-century skylight is centrally located on the front roof pitch. A one-and-a-half-storey extension to the left gable end features a large plate glass window with a concrete lintel. The left gable end also has a two-light segmental-headed window and a part-glazed 20th-century door. A two-storey garage extension with double plank doors and a lower roof line is located to the right of the main body. The interior has not been inspected.
