Description
The Green Cottage is a Grade II listed building located in Great Rissington. Originally built in the 17th century, it was later extended in the 20th century. The cottage is constructed from limestone rubble and features a concrete tile roof, which includes one original ashlar stack and a larger 20th-century coursed squared and dressed limestone stack.
The building has a rectangular plan with a single-storey extension added to the left gable end in the 20th century. The garden front showcases four half dormers; two of these have gables and two have raking roofs, all fitted with 2-light metal casements. The ground floor includes a three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with a stopped hood, a two-light wooden casement, and a 20th-century two-light wooden casement, with leaded panes on all but the latter. There are also French doors with leaded panes and a stopped hood positioned far left, along with a three-light stone-mullioned casement to the left.
On the side facing The Green, the upper floor is illuminated by three 20th-century rendered dormers with 2-light metal casements, two of which have leaded panes. The ground floor features two single-light fixed casements with double-chamfered surrounds, a three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with a stopped hood, a 20th-century single-light wooden casement with leaded panes, and two 20th-century two-light metal casements, one of which has leaded panes. The building has axial stacks with cappings and skirtings, and the 20th-century single-storey extension has a hipped roof. The interior has not been inspected.
