Description

This is a late 17th and early 18th century cottage, one of a pair originally built together. The cottage is constructed of limestone rubble with dressed quoins, and has a stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. The layout is rectangular, with later, unremarkable lean-to extensions at the rear.

The cottage has two storeys and an attic, with two 20th-century two-light dormers and a small 20th-century skylight illuminating the attic space. The front has a 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement window with a stopped hood, and a 2-light metal casement with horizontal glazing bars on the first floor. Beside this is a single-light stair-light with a double-chamfered surround and a stopped hood. The ground floor has two 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with flat-chamfered mullions and stopped hoods. A projecting, 20th-century stone-built gabled porch with a plank door is situated off-centre to the left. The chimney stack is axial, with a gable-end stack, both featuring moulded capping and skirting. The interior has not been inspected.
