Description
The Lamb Inn is an inn that dates from the late 17th century, with 19th and various 20th-century extensions. The main part of the building is constructed from limestone rubble, with the left gable end featuring incised render. The 19th-century extension is made of coursed limestone rubble, while the 20th-century extensions use coursed squared and dressed limestone, with dressed stone quoins. The roof is covered in stone slate and has ashlar stacks.
The main body of the inn is rectangular and consists of two storeys and an attic. It features a two-storey canted bay on the left gable end, which is lit by 20-pane and 12-pane sash windows. There is a three-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned casement with a stopped hood above it. The first floor of the rear wall has a similar but smaller two-light casement. The first floor of the 19th-century extension has two 2-light casements within segmental-headed surrounds.
On the left, the 20th-century twin-gabled extension has two-light stone-mullioned casements in the gables and three-light stone-mullioned casements at ground floor level. A 20th-century plank door with fillets leads to the flat-roofed extension on the right, which also includes two 2-light half-dormers with two-light wood casements. All windows on the entrance front have leaded panes. The building has axial and gable-end stacks with moulded cappings, and a twin diagonal axial stack serves the 17th-century range. The interior has not been inspected.
