Description
No's 7 and 9 on Barker Hades Road are a pair of houses built in the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble and feature a pantile roof. The buildings are two storeys high and have four windows on the first floor, with a continuous outshut at the rear. There is a wallstone plinth at the base.
The central entrance for No 7 has a boarded door set in a chamfered ashlar surround with a cambered lintel. On either side of the door, there are two 4-light wooden casement windows with projecting sills, horizontal glazing bars, and wooden lintels. The first floor has four 2-light, horizontally-sliding sash windows with horizontal glazing bars, all beneath flat arches. The right side of the building features shaped kneelers and gable copings. There are two stone ridge stacks topped with brick dentil courses.
On the left side, there is an added timber porch that covers the gable entrance to No 9, although this porch is not considered of special interest.
