Description

This is an L-shaped range of farm buildings forming the east side of the farmyard at North Farm, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed, squared limestone and feature a pantile roof. The structure is two storeys high and consists of a five-bay barn that includes a three-storey dovecote, with an elongated one-storey wing extending to the front right.

The barn has large quoins and an infilled, basket-arched waggon entrance at the center, which now has a door inserted on the left. To the left of this entrance, there is a taller door with an overlight and slit vents above. The central part of the barn has a ledge for a boarded opening and a hipped roof. The wing to the front right includes brick piers supporting a three-bay open-fronted shed that adjoins the barn. On the right side of this wing, there are two stable doors with overlights and two part-slatted casements, along with garage doors near the right end.

At the rear, there is an opposed waggon entrance to the barn, and some stone slates are visible on the dovecote. Inside the dovecote, there is a suspended timber floor and brick and wooden nesting holes. There is also an attached range of open-fronted sheds at the rear of the barn, but these are not of special interest.
