Description
The U-shaped range of farm buildings located immediately behind Round Green Farmhouse dates from around 1800, with an earlier barn that adjoins the farmhouse. Constructed from thinly-coursed sandstone rubble, the buildings have sheet asbestos roofs and enclose a farmyard at the rear of the house.
On the west side of the yard, there is a single-storey, five-bay barn. Attached to this barn is a later L-shaped range that encloses the north side, along with a single-storey range to the east. The earlier barn features a full-height boarded door flanked by outshuts, one of which has a stone roof. The left side has quoined first-floor openings that are now walled up. The adjacent limb of the later range includes three segmental-arched openings, with the leftmost having a loft door above it. The return limb features a large basket-arched waggon passageway on the left and a similarly-arched low opening on the right, along with a total of four quoined doorways with deep lintels. There is a casement window to the left of the third door and a quoined loft opening above the second door. The roof is hipped.
The single-storey limb has a blocked arcade of six round arches on square piers, with brick and stone infill and boarded doors on the left. At the right end, there are two quoined doorways and three windows.
Inside, the old barn has early principal-rafter trusses, while the other ranges feature pattern-book king-post trusses.
