Description

The L-shaped farmbuilding at North Farm, located immediately behind the farmhouse, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble limestone and has a pantile roof. This two-storey building features one-storey additions. The barn aligns with the wing at the rear of North Farmhouse and includes a basket-arched waggon entrance facing the farmyard, complete with stone ears and boarded doors that are hung on a har. There is a door on the left side, three rows of slit vents, and a square loft hatch. The projecting wing on the right has external stone steps leading to a first-floor door, with an arched recess beneath the landing and a gable hatch above. At the rear of the barn, there is an opposed waggon entrance, with a horse-engine house to its right, which features square and rectangular piers and a hipped roof. The left return of the wing has an arched doorway with an overlight on the left, and another door with a rock-faced surround on the right, alongside a casement window to its left and two casements on the first floor. The right return includes a one-storey, brick-fronted addition with three small pens beneath a hen loft. This building is a well-preserved part of the farmyard group.
