Description

Number 5 is a house that has been converted into offices, built in the early 19th century. It features painted brick with painted stone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a single bay and stands three storeys high above a basement. The basement is accessed by stone steps at the front, which lead to a fixed small pane window and a six raised and fielded panelled door.

The original railings at the front have alternating wavy and stick rails, with a basement gate to the left. The railings return on either side of the steps leading to the doorcase, which has a rubbed brick arch and a six-panel door beneath a radial glazed fanlight. To the left, there is a shallow bow with a tripartite window, featuring a twelve-pane sash in the centre flanked by two four-pane sashes. Above this, a full-height oriel bow window has a continuous sill band and a tripartite window with unequal fifteen and ten-pane sashes, along with a moulded cornice and a leaded roof.

A bracketed segmental ironwork balcony with a central frieze of circles is located at the front. Above the balcony, there are two unequal nine-pane sashes with projecting sills, set below segmental brick arches. The building has a timber eaves band and brick stacks at the ends. Inside, the front ground floor room features a corniced doorcase with a beaded panelled door, beaded panelled shutters, and a reeded cornice. This property is similar in style to Nos 4 and 6 nearby.
