Description

Number 23 is a house that has been converted into offices, along with its attached railings. It was built in 1790 and underwent alterations in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with an ashlar basement and painted ashlar dressings, topped with a slate roof and a single gable stack. The basement features rustication and a lintel band, while there are sill bands on the ground and first floors, and a first-floor band with a wooden gutter supported by brackets.

The structure has three storeys plus a basement and attics, with a three-window range. Most windows are four-pane sashes, with smaller ones on the second floor, all featuring multi keystone lintels. The ground floor has two sashes and a wooden doorcase to the right, which is flanked by engaged Doric columns and topped with a dentillated pediment. The door itself is a fielded six-panel design with a fanlight above. The basement includes two 20th-century twelve-pane sashes. Outside, there is cast-iron railing surrounding the area and steps, which are adorned with spindle balusters.
