Description
Number 17 is a house, now used as offices, with attached area railings. It was built in 1844 and restored in the late 20th century. The building is made of red brick with a rendered basement, featuring ashlar and brick dressings, and has a plain tile roof with two stylised brick gable stacks. It is designed in the Jacobean Revival style, with dentillated brick bands on the first and second floors and a similar lintel band above. The gables are coped and topped with finials. The structure has three storeys plus a basement and a three-window range. The windows have ashlar surrounds and wooden mullions, with a central cross casement flanked by similar three-light casements. Above, there are three two-light casements under a central shaped gable, which is flanked by larger shouldered gables. The right gable features a latticed light, while the left gable has a datestone. The central door has an overlight and a flat hood supported by shaped brackets, with a three-light cross casement to the right and a single cross casement to the left, followed by a half-glazed door and overlight. The basement includes two mullioned windows. Outside, there are cast-iron area railings on a renewed brick plinth.
