Description

Numbers 28 and 28A, along with the attached railings, are three houses that have been converted into offices. They were built in 1858 by the architect T.C. Hine from Nottingham and were restored in the late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of red brick, featuring yellow brick and painted ashlar dressings. The roofs are not visible due to a decorative parapet.

The structure has a plinth, quoins, a tile frieze, and an eaves cornice. The corner block stands three storeys tall, with an additional basement, and has a window arrangement of 4 x 4. Most of the windows are original margin light sashes set within moulded eared and shouldered surrounds.

On the Regent Street side, there is a projecting corner bay on the left, defined by quoins, which features a canted bay window with a parapet and three lights, along with a single window on each floor above it. To the right, there is a recessed section with three windows. The ground floor on the right includes a moulded six-panel door with a segment-arched eared surround and a wrought-iron fanlight, flanked by square bay windows with tripartite sashes. On the left, there is a small glazing bar window followed by a six-panel door in a simple surround.

The exterior also features a restored fence that encloses the garden and area, made up of cast-iron posts linked by chains. The Oxford Street front is nearly symmetrical, with a central bay that has a moulded round-arched doorway and fanlight to the left, topped by a segmental pediment. To the right of this doorway is a tripartite sash window. Above, there are two windows on each floor. The projecting end bays have canted parapeted bay windows with three lights, and above these, there is a single window on the left side of the bay window and a tripartite sash to the right, with another single window above.
