Description
Numbers 21 and 23 are two houses that have been converted into offices, with attached area railings. They were built in the mid-19th century and restored in the late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of red brick, featuring a rendered basement, painted ashlar and stucco dressings, and a slate roof with two brick gable stacks.
There is a renewed wooden modillion eaves cornice and a first-floor sill band. The houses rise three storeys plus a basement and attics, with a four-window range. Most windows are original 12-pane sashes, each with moulded architraves and bracketed sills, while the second floor has 9-pane sashes. The attics include two small pedimented dormers, added in the late 20th century.
At the front, there is a central double porch supported by pilasters and topped with an entablature, featuring moulded four-panel doors and overlights. Each side of the porch has a single window. The exterior is complemented by cast-iron area railings on a rendered plinth.
