Description
Nos. 2-12 Regent Street are a row of six terraced houses, now used as offices, built between 1854 and 1858 by the architect Thomas Chambers Hine in Nottingham. The buildings were restored in the late 20th century. They are constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs, which have large side wall and gable stacks that have mostly been altered. The design reflects the Flemish Renaissance Revival style.
The houses have a rendered basement and plinth, with a sill band at the first floor. They rise three storeys plus a basement and attics, and the row has a total of twelve windows. Most windows are original 12-pane sashes, each with moulded surrounds, bracketed sills, and enriched lintels featuring strapwork. The attic gables include similar 6-pane sashes topped with finials. The houses are paired, with the outer pairs slightly projecting and marked by quoins. Each house has two windows and an elaborate Flemish gable with finials. The paired doorcases are adorned with pilasters, strapwork enrichment, and simplified entablatures, and there are two original 6-panel doors. The right gable end features two round-arched windows on each floor, along with a single window in the attic.
