Description

14 to 24 Regent Street consists of six terraced houses, now used as offices, built around 1854-1858 by the architect Thomas Chambers Hine from Nottingham. The buildings were restored in the late 20th century. They are constructed of red brick with painted ashlar dressings and feature slate roofs with large brick ridge stacks. Architectural details include a plinth, string course, eaves cornice, and a coped blocking course, all in an Anglo-Italian style.

The houses are three storeys tall plus attics and have a total of twelve windows across the front. Most windows are original plain sashes with ashlar surrounds. Each house has a square bay window to the left, which is two storeys high and has a basement, topped by a projecting bay with a Flemish gabled dormer featuring stone verges and three finials. Notably, No. 14 has a canted bay window instead. The bay windows on each floor have three round-headed lights separated by round shafts above the basement, along with panelled dummy balconies. The projecting bays contain a single sash window, while the dormers have single round-arched windows; No. 14's dormer includes a graduated round-arched three-light window. Each house also features an entrance bay to the right with a moulded round-arched doorcase, and above this, there is a single window on each floor.
