Description

Number 12 is a house that has been converted into offices, with attached railings. It was built in the mid-18th century, altered in the mid-19th century, and converted in the late 20th century. The building is finished in painted stucco, and the roof is not visible behind a panelled coped parapet. The ground floor features rusticated detailing, with dentillated cornices at both the ground floor and eaves.

The facade is symmetrical, with a projecting central bay. The building has four storeys plus a basement and a five-window range. On the first floor, there are 12-pane sash windows with cornices supported by shaped brackets. Above these, there are 9-pane sash windows with eared architraves and shaped lintels. The top level features five small casement windows with moulded surrounds, with the central window being blank.

The ground floor includes a central portico supported by Corinthian double columns and a balustrade, which covers a panelled door with an overlight. On either side of the portico, there are two plain sash windows. The basement has four round-arched windows with voussoirs.

Outside, there is a wrought-iron area railing set on a chamfered ashlar plinth.
