Description
Nos. 4 and 6 Low Pavement is a building that originally served as auction rooms and offices, and is now a bank. It was constructed around 1910 by E.R. Sutton of Nottingham. The building features a combination of ashlar and red brick with ashlar dressings, and is designed in the Classical Revival style.
The structure has a rusticated basement and a dentillated cornice with a blocking course. It is symmetrical, standing two storeys high plus a basement, and consists of three bays. The rusticated ground floor includes a central entrance that is splayed and has a segmental arch, leading into a tiled passage. To the left of the entrance is a showcase, and to the right is a door. There are single windows on each side of the entrance, with the right window being reglazed.
Above the ground floor, there is a central recessed bow window featuring four composite sashes on each floor. On either side of this bow window, there are single composite sashes on each floor, which are flanked by giant Ionic pilasters. Above this section, there is a plain entablature.
