Description
This is an early 19th-century house, now used as offices, with attached railings. The house is constructed of stucco with painted stone dressings and has a slate roof. It is a single bay building of three storeys, including a basement. The basement has stone steps leading to the front, with a 16-pane sash window and a 6-panelled door. The original iron railing to the front has alternating wavy and plain rails, and a basement gate is present on the left. A railing return is located on the right side of the stone steps, leading to a doorcase that is supported by a bridge over the basement well. This doorcase has a stepped, semi-circular top with 6 raised and fielded panels, and a radial glazed fanlight. To the left of the doorcase is a shallow bow featuring a tripartite window with 12-pane sash windows flanked by 4-pane sash windows. Slightly above and to the far left is an inset stone plaque inscribed 'South Parade'. A full-height central oriel bow window sits above, featuring a tripartite window with unequal 15 and 10-pane sashes, a moulded cornice, and a leaded roof. There's a bracketed segmental ironwork balcony with a central frieze of circles. Above this again are two unequal 9-pane sash windows with projecting sills. A timber eaves band is present, along with brick end stacks. The building is similar in style to numbers 5 and 6 in South Parade.
