Description

This milestone, likely from the late 18th century or early 19th century, is made of millstone grit and features a rounded top with a lightly-tooled surface. At the top, it is inscribed with the Roman numerals XV, indicating that Rotherham is 15 miles away. The stone is located on an old salt route from Cheshire and is set into the southern side of the circular wall that encloses Ring Wood, positioned behind the road wall.
