Description

SE 20 SW LANGSETT HARTCLIFFE HILL ROAD (north side) Milestone set in south side of southern wall 0000000d.1 enclosing Ring Wood II Milestone. Probably late C18 or early C19. Millstone grit. Post has rounded top. Lightly-tooled surface, inscribed at the top are the Roman numerals: XV, indicating Rotherham 15 miles. The stone is situated on an old salt route from Cheshire. It is set in the circular wall which encloses Ring Wood, behind the road wall.
