Description

This milestone, located approximately 400 metres east of Lady Cross on the old salt road, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is made of millstone grit and features a rounded top with a lightly-tooled surface. At the top, it is inscribed with the Roman numerals XX, indicating that Rotherham is 20 miles away. The stone is positioned about 5 metres north of the current track, marking the boundary between the parishes of Dunford and Langsett.
