Description

Dick Royd Farmhouse is a farmhouse with an attached barn located on Dunford Brook Hill Lane. The building is dated 1741, although the cross-wing on the left dates back to the 17th century. The cross-wing is constructed of thinly-coursed rubble and rendered, while the main part of the farmhouse is made of deeply-coursed squared rubble, topped with a stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high and features a three-bay main range with the barn situated to the right.

The cross-wing projects at the front but is set back at the rear, and it has quoins. The main range includes one three-light and one four-light chamfered mullion window on the left side of both floors. There is a chamfered doorway, which is dated, to the right, along with an altered three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window on the first floor, both of which are chamfered. The barn has two chamfered entrances, one of which is blocked. To the far right, there is a later 18th-century two-storey addition that is of no special interest.

The cross-wing is partially obscured by the attached barn. The building features three reducing ashlar stacks with moulded cornices. At the rear, the cross-wing has a probable four-light, double-chamfered mullion window with a king mullion on the ground floor, which is partly obscured by the later addition, and a three-light, double-chamfered window on the first floor. The left side of the cross-wing has a four-light, double-chamfered window on the ground floor. The interior has not been inspected.
