Description
Cross Royd Head Farmhouse and the attached barn are a laithe house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations. The building is constructed of coursed squared stone and features a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and has a two-bay house alongside a three-bay barn. The house has entrances on both the left and right, with the left entrance blocked and the right entrance featuring a 20th-century stone porch. There are two 2-light windows on the ground floor, which have been heightened and were likely originally 3-light windows. The first floor has two 3-light windows, all of which have flat-faced mullions.
The barn, located to the right of the house, includes a cart entry with a stone lintel that has been partially blocked with brickwork to create a segmental-arched head. There is a small altered door to the right of the cart entry and two square pitching holes at a high level. The gable copings are chamfered and sit on moulded kneelers. An ashlar ridge stack with a chamfered cornice is present. At the rear, there is a 20th-century stone porch to the right and a large lean-to garage to the left. The centre of the first floor features two double-chamfered windows, both of which have had their mullions removed.
