Description

This is an early 18th-century barn located at Redminster Cottage, near Thurlstone. The barn is constructed of coursed squared rubble with a stone slate roof and features five internal bays. Quoins are present. A central, square-headed cart entry is visible, with a gabled dovecote situated above, built of red brick and possibly slightly later than the main barn structure. Continuous outshuts extend to the left and right of the cart entry. The rear elevation displays an opposing, blocked cart entry, distinguished by a segmental head and quoined surround. An entrance with a quoined surround is located in the right return. Inside, a 3-bay stone arcade with round arches supports each outshut, a distinctive and unusual feature for the area.
