Description

Nos 15, 17, and 19 Towngate are a row of former weavers' houses, now three separate dwellings, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of coursed squared stone and topped with a Welsh slate roof, rising to three storeys with quoins at the corners.

No 15 faces the road and features a central doorway with a quoined surround and a single light on each side. Above, there are two 3-light flat-faced mullion windows on the first floor, and three single windows on the second floor, which were originally part of a larger multiple light window. Nos 17 and 19 have rear entrances on this elevation, with a passage entrance located to the far left. They also feature two 2-light windows and a blocked, arched taking-in door on the second floor.

The buildings have three ashlar stacks. At the rear, there is a later addition to No 15 that is not included in the listing. Both Nos 17 and 19 have ground-floor entrances, with No 19 featuring a quoined surround. There is a passage entrance to the right. Each of these houses has a 3-light flat-faced mullion window on the ground and first floors, with several blocked or partially blocked lights. Notably, No 19 has an inserted 20th-century window on the first floor, while all three houses share a continuous 13-light window on the second floor, which also has several blocked lights.
