Description

No. 7, 9, and 11 Water Street are a row of houses and shops located in Martock. Nos 9 and 11 date from the early 19th century, while No. 7 features a later 19th-century facade added to an 18th-century building. The structures are built from Ham stone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs, topped with stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks.

No. 7 has two storeys and consists of four bays. The upper bays 1, 2, and 3 have 4-pane sash windows, while bay 4 features a flat-roofed timber oriel window with sashes. The ground floor includes a plain window in bay 1 and a 19th-century shopfront in bay 2, which has a 34-unit window above an ashlar panel, a central glazed door, and a 7-unit window, all beneath a thin fascia with a moulded hood.

Nos 9 and 11 have two storeys and comprise three bays. They feature 20-pane sash windows in plain openings, with a pair of doors in plain openings at lower bay 2. The door for No. 9 is a flush panel door with a toplight, while No. 11 has a 20th-century replacement door. The north gable of No. 7 includes a 2-light beaded mullioned window in an architrave on the first floor and a 20-pane sash window on the ground floor, with additional 18th-century materials visible in the rear elevation. The interiors of the buildings have not been seen.
