Description
The Clerks House is a semi-detached house dating from the 17th century, with some modifications. It is constructed from coursed rubble of Ham stone and features a plain clay tiled roof with stepped coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The building has a T-shaped plan and consists of two storeys with an attic, displaying a three-bay north elevation that includes an outshut at the rear.
In the first bay, there is a three-light horizontal bar casement window. The second bay features a four-light hollow chamfer mullioned window without a label, while the third bay has a single light window that matches the first. Between the first and second bays, there is a plain boarded door set in a plain opening. On the east side of the outshut, there is a two-light ovolo moulded mullioned window with a square label below, and above it, a two-light hollow chamfer mullioned window with unworked top mitres and no label.
The west gable has a flat-roofed porch extension, and above this, there are 20th-century windows with artificial stone surrounds. Projecting from the south side of the original facade is a wing from the 18th or 19th century, which includes another outshut on the west side. The east elevation of this wing features two 16-pane sash windows above, with a doorway situated between the bays below. On the southeast corner of the original facade, there are three-light hollow chamfer mullioned windows with labels at both levels. The interior has not been seen.
