Description
The Grange is a detached house dating from the mid-18th century, with possible later extensions. The front facade is constructed of ham stone ashlar, with the sides cut and squared. The roof is hipped, covered with plain clay tiles, exhibiting undulations, and features a sawn stone ridge and stone chimney stacks. The house has two storeys and five bays, the wider outer bays being set back. It has a plinth and a dentilled eaves course. The windows are 12-pane sashes; those in the outer bays are paired and set in plain openings, while those in the inner bays are in architraves. A pair of tall three-panel doors, with toplights, are located in the lower bay, accessed via two steps, and are framed by a Gibbsian-type rusticated architrave with a triple keystone and flat hood. On the north side are two-light chamfered mullioned windows, deep with flat heads and no labels; the window nearest the road appears to be a later insertion. The south elevation is a matching three-bay design. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
