Description

Bridge House is a detached house dating from the 18th century, possibly modified in the 19th century. It is constructed of Ham stone ashlar and features hipped Welsh slate roofs along with stone and brick chimney stacks. The building has two storeys with an attic and both the east and north elevations consist of three bays.

The east elevation, which faces Frickers Bridge, includes a plinth, rusticated pilasters near the corners, and an eaves course. The central bay rises to three storeys and is flanked by pairs of octagonal chimney stacks. The first bay has blind panels on both levels, while the third bay features a 16-pane sash window above and a pair of part-glazed doors below, both set in plain openings. The second bay projects and includes a segmental bow. The ground and first floors have Venetian windows with keystoned moulded architraves, while the second floor has a window with chamfered, not curved, faces and a central 2-light beaded mullioned window with 8-pane sashes set into an architrave, topped with a plain moulded coping to a low parapet.

The north elevation has beaded mullioned windows in architraves, all of which are three-light with small pane inserts. The lower bay two features a Regency pattern door beneath a rectangular fanlight with a circular motif, accessed by four steps in a plain beaded recess. There is an extension off the west side. The interior has not been seen, and the premises appeared to be unused as of June 1985.
