Description
This is a mid-18th century barn located on Hay Green Lane in Birdwell, opposite the junction with Herons Way. The barn is constructed from thinly-coursed sandstone and features a stone slate roof. It is a single-storey building with five bays and large quoins. The central cart entry, which is on the side opposite the road, has quoined jambs and a wooden lintel, along with boarded doors. There are two rows of slit vents and a square hatch in the first bay. The rear of the barn has a narrower, quoined central opening, while the end gables also contain slit vents and hatches. There is a lean-to on the left return, but it is not of special interest. Inside, the barn retains old principal-rafter trusses.
