Walls, railings, gates and gateways bounding playground on all sides of Scarcroft County Primary School (qv). 1896 with some later alteration. By WH Brierley. Walls of red or brown brick in various bonds, with coping of glazed brown brick or stone; gateways and gate piers of stone or brick banded with stone; gates and railings of cast-iron with carriage gate piers of wrought-iron. Pupil gateways have shallow gabled flat copings and segment-arched openings: other gate piers have moulded bases and caps. Railings and gate bars are of square section with pointed finials, carriage gates between openwork panel piers of scrolls, arabesques and rinceaux.
