Description

This is a milestone located on York Road in Acomb, dating from the late 19th century and reset in the 20th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a semicircular top plate. The top plate is inscribed with 'COLLINGHAM & YORK ROAD ACOMB'. The left side of the milestone shows the distance to York, which is 2 miles, while the right side lists distances to Wetherby at 11.5 miles, Collingham at 13.5 miles, and Leeds at 24 miles.
