Description

This milestone, located approximately 50 meters north of the junction with Second Avenue, dates from after 1826, likely from the mid-19th century. It features an arched stone structure that is overlaid with cast iron and has a triangular cross-section. The letters on the milestone are in relief. The top of the milestone reads: "LEEDS & COLLINGHAM ROAD RIGTON CUM BARDSEY." The left face indicates distances to Collingham (1½ miles) and Leeds (9 miles), while the right face shows distances to Wetherby (3½ miles) and York (17 miles).
